The Great Walleye Drought of 2010
I have a confession to make. A dark dirty secret that I’m ashamed of… I didn’t catch one Walleye in all of 2010. You heard that right. Not one single Walleye all year. How is this possible? A perfect storm of weather, scheduling and boat problems conspired to keep me shutout. Ok, there was also line breaks, impatience and bad luck. As a self professed angler and lover of the water this is about the worst possible scenario that could ever occur.
Don’t fret. The phoenix will rise in 2011. It may not happen during ice fishing season, but I guarantee I will have a Walleye on by May Long Weekend this year. I will claim my prize, even if I have to stay on the lake for 24 hours straight in a blinding blizzard.
