NAB 2011

NAB is short for “National Association of Broadcasters” and is an annual industry gathering to showcase the upcoming technology for the year. I’m hoping to attend this April as I’m budgeting to add a second edit workstation to the office. Rumor is that Apple is releasing an updated Final Cut Studio to support 64-bit computing. Most FCP users including myself have been patiently waiting for a significant update. So the following caught my attention. An actual text exchange between Steve Jobs and a concerned pro video user:

Steve,
Getting worried about Apple’s interest in Final Cut. Last updates were not stellar. I heard a bunch of engineers were dropped too – give us a sign you still care about Pro Video, not just the iPad.
Thanks,
Alex

We certainly do.  Folks who left were in support, not engineering.  Next release will be awesome.
Steve

That’s enough to pique my interest. Plus any reason is a good reason to relax in Las Vegas.
